Expanding public knowledge of local and regional history
With volunteers, events, tours, and publications- Have you found that your community needs a group of trained, jump-into-action volunteers to pull off annual or semi-annual festivals or events, but there isn't one?
- Does your county or city historical museum need more help from the community, but isn't sure how to get it?
- Do you worry that you are losing important links to your local history as older people die, and their stories and voices are not passed down?
- Would you like to highlight your city, county, or regional history to bring more visitors to your town?
If so, you're not alone. Those are needs we see in towns small and large.
At This Place is an educational and literary nonprofit that works to expand public knowledge of local and regional history and culture by supporting local historical/cultural events, museums, institutions, buildings, and tourism. We do this through developing and training volunteers, fostering local events, creating tours, distributing publications on local and regional history, recording oral histories on audio and video, and other projects as developed by our local chapters and national board.
